We’re opening the doors to our fourth Start Lighthouse Literacy Hub! 📚

This September, Start Lighthouse is thrilled to begin a new chapter with the students and families of JB43 and P17X in the Bronx.

A Start Lighthouse Literacy Hub is more than a space filled with books. It is a place where students can discover the joy of reading, explore stories that reflect their lives and expand their worlds, and begin to see themselves as readers.

At JB43 and P17X, our Literacy Hub Lead, Ryan, will be part of the school community each day, leading engaging literacy programming and building meaningful relationships with students throughout the year.

The Hub will also bring authors directly into the school to share their stories and creative journeys with students, welcome families for hands on literacy workshops, and give children the chance to participate in home library shopping experiences where they choose books they are excited to own and read again and again.

On September 23, we’ll gather with students, families, educators, partners, and friends to officially open the doors to this new Hub and celebrate everything that will happen within it.

For us, opening a fourth Literacy Hub means reaching more children with joyful, consistent literacy experiences. It means putting more books into the hands and homes of young readers. And it means continuing to build school communities where every child has the opportunity to develop a lasting relationship with reading.
